The internal regulations for the Bachelor of Clinical Dentistry program, based on credit hours

Article (1) granting the certificate:
Ain Shams University, upon the recommendation of the College Board, awards a bachelor’s degree in clinical dentistry to students who have successfully passed
Clinical dentistry program with credit hours system.

Article (2) Conditions for Registration:

  • This program is allowed for Egyptian students and expatriates holding a high school diploma, Science Division, or its equivalent
  • Distribute them through the Coordination Office, Expatriate Administration, or those transferred from other colleges, according to the terms, standards, and rules that Determined by the college council, so that it does not exceed the absorptive capacity of the college and in a manner that does not conflict with the quality of the educational process.
  • Students must submit all required and announced documents in the Department of Education and Student Affairs, as well as fill in the relevant forms.
  • The student must submit a certificate of proficiency in the English language, from a point approved by the College Council.
  • The student must successfully pass the medical examination in accordance with the rules established by the College Board.
  • Students who are permanently dismissed from another public or private university may not be accepted.
  •  Students enrolled in one of the dental colleges may be transferred to Egyptian public universities or one of the recognized foreign universities, provided that the student studies at Ain Shams University (6) semesters at least six semesters.

Article (3) of the study system:

  •  The study in this program is regular, and it is not permissible to enroll, and the follow-up of students’ attendance at the college and related conditions are subject to it For the rules stipulated by the College Council.
  • Study by credit hour system, equivalent to the credit hour:
    • Lecture hour.
    • Two to three hours practical / clinical.
    •  Study in English for all courses.
    • The total number of credit hours for this program (189) credit hours.
    • The course includes the university’s academic requirements which include human courses, as well as college requirements that include science
    • Basic Medical and Applied Clinical Sciences.

Article (4): Study dates and enrollment:

  • The academic year is divided into three semesters as follows:
  • The first semester: It starts from the third Saturday of September for a period of 16 weeks.
  • The second semester: It starts from the second Saturday of the month of February for a period of 16 weeks.
  • Summer semester: starts on the first Saturday in July and lasts for 8 weeks.
  • Enrollment is for any stage within two weeks before the start of any semester after fulfilling the conditions for enrollment and paying the prescribed fees. The semester is considered
  • The summer is optional for students – the College Council specifies the minimum number of students who are allowed to register in the summer semester.
  • Enrollment in the summer semester of a student who fails or for the purpose of raising the GPA is based on the recommendation of the academic advisor
    An average teaching load for one course or two courses.

Article (5) Duration of study:

  • The minimum period for studying in this program is five years.

Article (6) tuition fees:

  • The educational service fees determined for each credit hour are determined by the university upon the proposal of a college council annually and may be increased
  • These fees are annually for students, with a maximum of 10%, according to the regulations set by the Supreme Council of Universities.
  •  The student signs a commitment to pay the educational service fees prescribed for the duration of the study period.
  •  The educational service fees are collected every semester, and the educational service fees are valued at the number of hours the student registers each
  • A semester (first semester, second semester, summer semester) with a minimum equivalent educational service fee of 10 credit hours
  • It is only semester if the number of credit hours remaining to obtain the degree is less than that in the actual hours of study
  • The educational service fees for the summer semester will be dependent on the number of credit hours the student has registered.

Article (7) Registration Conditions:

  •  Up to 21 credit hours for a student with a cumulative average (2 and more).
  •  Up to 18 credit hours for students with a GPA (from 1 to less than 2.)
  •  Up to 14 credit hours for students with a GPA (less than 1).
  •  It is not permissible for the student to register in a course with previous requirements before passing the previous courses.
  •  A student who fails to register is not considered final in the academic courses unless paying the delay registration fee in addition To the prescribed educational service fees.
  • After registering the system, students can be registered as a listener who denies some courses, and if there is a place for them, after paying the service fees
  • The educational curricula for which they are registered and not allowed to take the exam or obtain a certificate for the courses.

Article (8) Academic Advisor:

  • The College Vice-Dean for Education and Student Affairs appoints each student upon joining the study as a mentor among the faculty members.
  • The academic advisor is obligated to follow the student’s performance and assist him in choosing the academic courses every semester and to request the student’s status Under observation for one semester with a reduction in the number of registered hours and a minimum of 12 credit hours.
  • The academic advisor may request the return of the student to some of the courses that he previously passed or add new courses for him for the purpose of raising Average score to achieve graduation requirements.

Article (9) Conditions of Amendment, Cancellation, and Withdrawal:

  • The student has the right to change courses in which he registered with another within two weeks of starting the study, and this is not possible for the summer semester.
  • The student has the right to withdraw from the course within eight weeks at most from the beginning of the studies for the first and second semesters and two weeks on Most in the summer semester and do not return fees.
  • A student who wishes to withdraw from a semester with an excuse accepted by the College Board must apply for Student Affairs and obtain
  • Approval of the withdrawal and returns the courses in which he was enrolled in a later semester of study and exam and is not counted as a time Failure
  • The student has the right to re-register in any course in which he received a failing grade (Fail) or was deprived of entering the exam in it for not
  • It fulfills the requirements for entering the exam (Forced Withdrawal), and the course will be re-examined and examined after paying the required educational service fees.

Article (10) Calculating the average points:

  • The student is not considered successful in any course unless he obtains an estimate (D) at least.
  • A student does not obtain a Bachelor’s degree unless he has achieved a cumulative average of at least 2.00.
  • The points of each course are calculated as the number of credit hours multiplied by the points obtained according to the estimate.
  • The total points obtained by the student are calculated in the points of all the courses he studied in this semester.
  • The average score for any semester (semester average) is calculated as the result of dividing the total points obtained by the student in this
  • The semester divided by the total credit hours for these courses.
  • The course in which the student gets a grade less than (D) and returns it again until he succeeds in it and his grade is calculated with a maximum of (C.)
  • The average graduation score (GPA) is calculated as the result of dividing the total points studied by the total credit hours For these 50 courses

Article (11) Estimates of courses that are not counted among the requirements:

  • Courses in which the student is registered as a listener or in which success is required only or to be completed for a reason that the College Council has and does not enter into an account
  • Average score is made for one of the following estimates:
    • Meaningful appreciation
    • Withdrawal / Withdrawal / W
    • Forced Withdrawal / Forced Withdrawal / FW
    • Listener / Audit / AU
    • Fail / Fail / F
    • Successful / Pass / P

Article (12) Preparing the course in which the student holds a degree (-D / D + / C):

  • The student is allowed to repeat the course in which he obtained an estimate (D / D + / C-), and the student is monitored with the grade obtained.
  • In the event that the student wants to repeat the course for the second time, he must submit an application to the Student Affairs Committee, with the opinion of the guide Academic.

Article (13) Preparing the course in which the student has a failure degree (F):

  • The student is allowed to repeat the course in which he received a grade of failure (F).
  • Who has obtained it with a maximum of (D.)

Article (14) Student Assessment and College Requirements:
Students are evaluated during the study as follows:

  • Regularity, studying is not allowed for the final exam if the attendance rate is less than 75%.
  • Scientific and educational requirements.
  • Periodic exams.
  • Final exams (theoretical, practical, orally).
  • The student is considered successful in his course and must obtain at least 30% of the final written exam scores.

Article (15) Graduation Requirements:

  • The student must successfully complete the approved courses
  • The student’s GPA for graduation must not be less than (2.00).
  • If the student is transferred from another university, he must have studied in the college equivalent to (6 (six semesters) and is not counted Summer semester within these semesters ).

Article (16) years of excellence:

  • The concession year is compulsory for the student before authorizing him to practice the profession.

Article (17) Ranks of Honor and Granting Excellence:

  • The honors degree is granted to a student whose cumulative average is not less than 3.00 at least during all semesters, otherwise he will have obtained
  • A grade of (F) in any course during his university studies.
  • Upon enrolling in any of the first thirty students in the Egyptian general secondary school, majoring in sciences is exempted from all tuition fees during The next semester for enrollment and this exemption remains in effect as long as the student obtains a GPA of no less than 3.60.

Article (18) Transfer between the two systems of study in the college:

  • The student enrolled in the credit hours system to the full academic year system as long as it does not exceed 60% of the total credit hours Necessary to graduate with clearing of the decisions that he passed, and transfer is not permitted if he does not fulfill the conditions for admission to the full academic year system
  • The college has an enrollment year.
  • A student enrolled in the full academic year system may be transferred to the credit hour system with the necessary clearing.

Article (19): Warning and dismissal rules from the study:

  • If the student’s GPA decreases to less than 2.00 in any semester, an academic warning is issued stating that the student must be raised For a cumulative average of at least 2.00.
  • The student is dismissed if:
    • If the student’s cumulative GPA decreases by 2.00, he will complete six consecutive main semesters.
    • If he does not fulfill the conditions for graduation during the maximum period of study, which is ten years, the College Council may consider the possibility of granting
    • A student subject to the semester has one and last chance for a semester, bringing the cumulative average to 2.00 or to achieve requirements
    • Graduation if at least 80% of the credit hours required for graduation have been successfully studied.
